Before our current era of
email and telephones, the humble letter
was the only way to communicate over long
distances. We now give the letter a
certain amount of romanticism since it
represents a bygone era. However,
in the past few years we’ve seen a slight
renaissance in letter writing; stationary
stores and specialty papermakers have
reported that they’ve seen more people
interested in designer papers and wax
seals than they’ve seen in years.
It’s tough to completely revive letter
writing though, since after all, writing
an email or dialing up someone on the
phone takes a lot less time than it takes
to sit down and write a
letter.
Though there’s a good chance you
won’t turn off your computer and start
writing letters to everyone you know
instead of jotting them an email, there
is one artifact of the times of letter
writing that should find its way back
into everyone’s life: the simple thank
you
card.

I found the perfect baby birth
announcements online through one of the
sponsored sites. Maybe it was the
high-tech radiance that seems to emanate
from anything that I ever find on the
internet, but I was overwhelmed by the
adorableness of these baby girl
announcements which lined every page of
the site. Some of the baby girl birth
announcements showed little girls in
cribs, looking up at mobiles. Other baby
girl announcements showed the babies in
strollers looking out at the world in the
wide eyed wonder that I see on my
daughter's face. Some of them even showed
them cradled in the arms of a mother or a
father, deep in blissful slumber. But
none of these was quite perfect. I spent
hours looking at the same 6 pages of baby
girl announcements until it caught me –
one that I had not seen before, but that
I fell in love with almost that instant.
It was a little girl sitting there,
playing with dolls, while her furry
kitten looked on. Instantly, I was hooked
and ordered 100 baby girl birth
announcements.
